Salkantay trek takes you around the stunning Mount Salkantay, which is the second largest mountain in Cusco region (6,277m / 20,577ft). On your first night, you will camp within the clear sight of the snow capped peak of Salkantay Mountain. Second day will be the longest day of the trek, the most challenging, and you will climb a bit harder. However, the view at the top is stunning and unique.

The walk to the famous Apacheta pass which is at 4650m/15,088ft is not strenuous nor very steep. Afterward, it is mainly a descent into more tropical area passing Andenes and Chaullay. On your fourth day you will hike through LLACTAPATA (2,700m/9,157ft) while enjoying the great views of Machu picchu,Wuayna Picchu mountains and the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu (Inca city). Ending at the most important mystic center of the world: Machu Picchu. WAYNAPICCHU takes about an hour to climb and reservations must be made 2 months in advance because a new rule has been enacted that only permits 250 people to scale the mountain each day but we have tickets .



The pick up will be from 4:30 to 5:00am at your accommodations, departure at 5am in a tour bus to Mollepata, a small village located at 2,850 meters high with a temperate climate, a jungle vegetation and around town you'll appreciate some glaciers belonging to the Salkantay range with an approximate altitude of 4,000 to 5,000m., we are about at 8am in Mollepata, where we'll enjoy this beautiful landscape that is part of Mount Salkantay at 6,200m. Contemplating this scenario we will start our hike, which will last approximately 7 to 8 hours, also we'll be accompanied by high jungle vegetation, we will have lunch enroute and we'll continue after this to Soraypampa, which is located at 3,800m, where we will pitch our first camp.


The sunrise will be amazing because the first thing upon awakening will be the majestic view over the Salkantay at 6:30am, we'll have breakfast at 7:30am and then we'll continue with the trip, this time it'll last 7 to 8 hours approximately where you can clearly see the ecology and the difference between the altitudinal levels, we'll enter a kind of canyon that will take us to the foot of Salkantay, and after 4 hours of walking we'll reach the Salkantay Pass (4,600m), then we'll descend to WARAQMACHAY, have our lunch, continuing our adventure down the valley and we'll contemplate the start of the jungle, arriving at our second camping at 3,300m in CHAULLAY to spend the night.


Breakfast at 6:30am after this we will begin to walk in the high jungle where we'll appreciate different types of flora & fauna and many waterfalls just as climate changing and then reaching our lunch stop (SAHUAYACO - PLAYA 2,800m.) from this place we will take our bus that will take us to our camp in SANTA TERESA at 1,900m., likewise we'll visit the hot springs and enjoy this natural attraction, this day our hike will last 5 hours.


Upon waking up and having our breakfast we will continue our trek for about 40 minutes to reach the river Vilcanota shores, here we'll cross the river. Our tour will be approximately 3 hours toward the hydroelectric plant where we'll see the Urubamba River Valley and the huge waterfall that flows from inside the mountain, the northeastern part of the Machu Picchu is the perfect place where we'll have our lunch and then visit the Intiwatana(at km.121).
At the end of our visit we will begin to walk on the railway tracks and reach the town of Aguas Calientes where we'll rest in a hostel.


Our breakfast will be from 4:00 to 4:30am, and after this we will get ready to start our ascent to the citadel of Machu Picchu where we'll arrive at 6:00am to see the sunrise and we'll get 2 hours explanation with our guide and visit the HUAYNAPICCHU mountain and appreciate the wonderful town and the mountains around, finally ending the visit we'll go down again to Aguas Calientes to take our train back to Cusco. (Need to book for Huaynapicchu mountain 2 or 1 month in avance depending on the season)
